Common Thread is for those with a lot of feelings, thoughts, and wild ideas who are looking for a space that offers creativity, connection, and most importantly, comfort.

We offer arts and crafts pop-ups across the Columbia River Gorge. Not necessarily created for the fine artist in mind, but more for the DIYer or the person who thinks, "I can do that," and then scours YouTube for hours until they realize they've started a whole new hobby. This is for you.

Events follow a monthly theme built on creating something with your hands, meeting new friends, and having an awesome time doing it.

If it helps, I'm an introvert, so don't worry, no ice breaker questions or small talk. Yes, it's The Gorge, we get extreme weather, it's beautiful, no, I don't windsurf, yes, I love hiking. Now that that's out of the way, I'm excited to meet you all and get to know you better :)

You probably thought, as you read through this website, that there were more people involved. Probably cause I said, "we," instead of "I." But that's mainly because it feels weird to say "I" everywhere.
Anyway, hey, I'm Katherine! I'm the Common Thread, it's me. I love art, I love making new friends, and I've had a dream of creating a space for people to get together and craft since I can remember.
I have always been into mixed media journaling. I have tried pretty much every hobby and craft on a daily basis. I also have a passion for mental health. My day job is helping behavioral health workers get their credential or degree. There is incredible research that shows how beneficial art and making is for our brains, heart, and livelihoods. It's just really great, take my word for it, I promise. But you can also Google it if you don't trust me.

Why Bistro?
Our (my) long-term goal is to have a physical location in the Columbia River Gorge that hosts creative menus, classes, and events.

In the short-term, we (me), still really liked the name to signify a simple gathering space for people to come talk, share, and be together. Just in this case, it's arts and crafts instead of food.
